About Isabela Foundation

Isabela Foundation is a Non-profit Company under the Joint Stock registrar of the Government of Bangladesh. It is a scientifically independent foundation of excellence to support the management of natural resources for sustainable socio-economic development using integrated environmental analysis. It provides solutions to issues and problems in the sectors of environment and nature and natural resources, forestry, wildlife, and biodiversity etc., and recommends technical options based on local realities that are feasible from the socio-economic and institutional points of view.


The major strength of Isabela Foundation is its multidisciplinary group of highly qualified scientists and technical professionals who bring a wide range of skills to the organization and are able to study environment related problems in an integrated manner. Isabela’s staff has expertise in Climate Change, Forestry, Sociology, Soil science, Ecology, Biology and sustainable development etc.


The head office and corporate office of Isabela Foundation is located in Dhaka City.


The foundation has several Research Work Stations at various places in Bangladesh such as Rema Kalenga, Tanguar Haor, Sundarbans (Mongla), Rangamati, Cox's Bazar, Saint Martin Island, Sonadia Island etc. The work station of Saint Martin Island is well equipped with Scuba diving apparatus, marine biodiversity and underwater biota research gear and appropriate logistics. In that Research lab, we also have the underwater camera (Photo & Video) and related equipment and facilities. It also owns a Marine Vessel and boats well efficient for research works in river and sea.


The foundation is working with both govt. and NGOs jointly. MoU is maintained with Bangladesh Forest Department, University of Chittagong, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University Gazipur, Institute of Water Modelling (IWM), Sustainable Environmental Management Consultants Limited (SEMAC) together and with other parties.
